Lee Vickson’s only words that made any sense, were his comparing the terrorists in Iraq to the gang members in America.
Mr. Vickson fails to recognize that the social pandering to the “economic” classes have largely led to the problems we face today. Throwing money away, educating the parents, is like weaning an alcoholic on lite beer. It’s not going to happen. We have attempted this social engineering for decades now, and what we have ended up with is a generation who have bought into the conspiracy theory that there condition is a result of someone else’s actions.
There is only one way to deal with the gang problems, and that is with zero tolerance policies that firmly establish immovable consequences for the perpetrators. I am sick of being afraid. I am sick of worrying about my kids’ safety. I am sick of not wanting to go to the mall for fear of a run in with obnoxious thugs who have little regard for social etiquette let alone abiding by laws. Society has sold you a bill of goods Mr. Vickson. Economics has little to do with encouraging illegal, immoral and reprehensible behavior. Thinking that you are entitled to special treatment and above the rules set for society as a whole are responsible for these behaviors, regardless of color or economic status. Good is good and bad is bad.
Pandering to social deviants to allow for social sensitively is nonsense.
Yes, Mr. Vickson, gang and racial violence is a serious problem, to put it mildly. But you can hardly rationalize that firm enforcement of the law will perpetuate more violence. Society has experimented enough with liberal, social policies that have failed miserably, while costing more than just money, but also costing society as whole the freedom of living in peace without the fear of how to deal with these terrorists. It is time to stand up and say what needs to be said: “ Criminals are just that. There is no acceptable rationalization nor justification for their behavior let alone any intelligible tolerance You don’ think that what every parent wants is to have their children act in manner that allows them to achieve happiness and become a productive part of society?”. But, nothing you teach in the home will have much effect if there is not a vigilant enforcement program that does not bend to meet the desk pounding tactics of the special interest groups, who happen to be Black and Hispanic. Black, Hispanic, white, rich and poor, all parents want the same thing: For the system to back them up.
Your “poor me” quipping simply enables the perpetuation of cannibalism, where the criminals are feeding on their own. Stand up, Mr. Vickson and say something meaningful and resist the urge to patronize these uncivilized, deviant thieves of liberty.
