Did Joe Get One Right?

The media’s almost universal opinion that Sen. Joe Biden simply made just another one of his gaffes — when he warned that the election of the untested Barack Obama would inevitably result in a global crisis where our enemies take measure of the man by confronting him and America with a challenge — was dead wrong.

It was no gaffe; it was a clear warning that Obama will not only be tested, but also that he will not be up to the challenge and will need help in dealing with something he cannot deal with on his own.

I cannot remember a more frightening scenario, especially since it came from Obama’s own running mate and not John McCain or the Republican Party. I have no doubt Biden was sincere in alerting the nation to a very real threat to our national security — the prospect of a totally inexperienced and naive Barack Obama being confronted by an enemy he would rather talk with. That the nation isn’t alarmed by this prospect, which Biden guaranteed would surely come about, is simply bizarre. Here in a post-9/11 world, when America’s foes have proven they’ll stop at nothing to bring America down to our knees, if the polls are correct, voters are on the verge of electing a man to the presidency whose very election will light the spark of an international crisis in a nuclear age.

This is an unprecedented situation, but it’s not the first time the voters have chosen a president who lacked the bona fides required in a leader facing an international threat and a determined enemy.

Unlike Barack Obama, however, John Kennedy had been tested when in harm’s way during WW II and had shown himself capable of acting with both courage and initiative.

Moreover, he had been a first-hand witness at momentous events during his father’s ambassadorship to war-torn Britain and had even written a book, “Why England Slept,” about the crisis England faced because they failed to recognize the threat Hitler posed to their very existence.

Yet even with his experience evident when he won election in 1960, the Soviet Union thought he not only should be tested but was convinced he would fail the test.

As a result, America found itself facing a nuclear war with the Soviets after Soviet dictator Nikita Khrushchev met with JFK, saw what he judged to be his weakness, and confronted America with the Cuban Missile Crisis.

It was only after JFK promised to remove U.S. missiles from Turkey and pledged to halt all efforts to remove Fidel Castro from power that Khrushchev agreed to take his missiles out of Cuba.

We cannot afford another such crisis, yet if Joe Biden is correct, that’s exactly what will happen if Barack Obama wins the presidency on November 4. He’s guaranteed it.

We can expect the challenge to Obama to come from Iran, which has already observed him promising to sit down with their leaders without preconditions and thus meet with them as equals.

Iran has already shown how they react to U.S. presidents who show signs of weakness. They saw weakness in Jimmy Carter, and they seized the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and held 52 U.S. diplomats hostage for 444 days.

When my father won election in 1980 Iran had no need to test him; they had already taken his measure and he scared the daylights out of them. As a result, minutes after he took the oath of office, the Iranians released the hostages.

A soon-to-be nuclear power, Iran is certain to test what they see as a politician with absolutely no experience. And given his demonstrated willingness to greet hostility with mere words eloquently spoken, we can expect Iran to risk a global crisis by facing him with a direct challenge to his leadership, probably by rattling their nuclear sword.

We had better heed Joe Biden’s warning and vote against an untested politician from Chicago’s rowdy and corrupt political machine.

You have your time line confused with the Cuban Missile crisis. At any rate, if McCain (or your father) would have been president during that time, we would have bombed Cuba as the Generals had been promoting at the time. With that we would have likely lost Miami and New Orleans to nuclear war. (The Soviets have since admitted that they already had operational missiles by then).

“When my father won election in 1980 Iran had no need to test him; they had already taken his measure and he scared the daylights out of them.” Well, they had formed an opinion and they were scared. But only that a wanna-be cowboy actor would do something utterly stupid. Ultimately, we know that in a secret deal President Reagan had fixed the release of the hostages till after the election.

Even so, why would Biden say something like that? I don’t know, I try and try and Obama just doesn’t seem like the type to be able to lead a country. In a time of crisis America needs a strong leader. He needs to be aware and make the right choices for ALL of America. I’m not sure Obama will be able to do all he says or wants to do because he lacks the experience to do so…

Though that’s just my opinion. Politics are politics. I’m just doing my current events homework =/

I think the switching of presidents in the tumultuous time is going to test the leadership abilities of either candidate no matter what the outcome.

I kind of agree….I don’t know how you can call that one of Joe’s gaffe’s. With “mark my words” and “if you remember nothing more”. This is something he’s thought about. Pretty scary if you ask me.

When Cecil Rhodes decided that the best way to promote socialism in the Federal Republic of the United States would be to bring the “conspiracy” out in the open; that’s when he and his “Round Table” enacted his “Rhodes Scholarship”.
A conspiracy ceases to be a conspiracy at the point when you can tell people the truth about the erosion of our society, and they shrug it off and reply “That’s just the way it is”.
We can likely gauge whether or not the “open conspiracy” Cecil Rhodes has been a success in ten days; sink or swim?

After 8 years of Bush the other side has a lot of nerve telling us what to fear. In what way will Obama invite our enemies to attack us, and in what way does the threat increase beyond what it was under George W Bush??

Once again, Republican fears are not my fears, Republican enemies are not my enemies, Republican boogie men are not my boogie men.

The “test” Joe Biden was referring to is the threat of a false flag attack, or coup d’etat… you know… like the one we had in 1963.

McCain’s been tested in the 20 some years in govt and judging by the size of the crisis we’re in, he’s failed miserably. McCain is ill, bitter and a hothead. If he’s such a maverick, why is he a member of the republican party? Why not have a party of his own? Because he’s just like Bush. A republican is a republican is a republican. We’ve had enough. Time to show McCain the door!

Um… let’s not forget the test GW received and failed early in his first term. 9/11 saw America draw together which is what Obama will best do for us. We can’t afford another Bush/McCain divinionist regime. And really… do you think nobody would test the old man from AZ?

You are the Boss. Which team would you hire?

With America facing historic debt, 2 wars, stumbling health care, a weakened dollar, all-time high prison population, mortgage crises, bank foreclosures, etc., which team is better qualified?

    Educational Background:

    Obama:

Columbia University – B.A. Political Science with a Specialization in International Relations.

Harvard – Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude

    Biden:

University of Delaware – B.A. in History and B.A. in Political Science.
Syracuse University College of Law – Juris Doctor (J.D.)

    vs.

    McCain:

United States Naval Academy – Class rank: 894 of 899

    Palin:

Hawaii Pacific University – 1 semester
North Idaho College – 2 semesters – general study
University of Idaho – 2 semesters – journalism
    Matanuska-Susitna College – 1 semester
University of Idaho – 3 semesters – B.A. in Journalism

I think the Obama/Biden ticket is in a better position to address the challenges we face.

If we are going to use analogies, lets compare coaching – the best coaches are said to not have been the best players- Education is not a key to leadership- Joe Biden has been the most acrimonious, conforntational Senator- taking 18 months to confirm John Bolton to the UN at a time when N Korea and Iran were running amuck- He took 9 months to confirm Justice Thomas after illegally leaking incorrect information confirmed to be untrue by the FBI

For being educated at harvard and Columbia, Barack sure does not exhibit the intellignece that one would assume this education would secure

Lets see- He goes to church for 20 years and names a book after a preacher spewing anti american hatred, but yet had not idea

He formed alliances with Bill Ayers who in 2001 stated he regrets for not doing more and yet still maintained his associations

He is a Senator from a state with the major city, Chicago boasting a higher murder rate than that of the Iraqii was this year, highest salses tax rate and lowest graduation rate int he nation
Barach says he is going to lower taxes on 95% of the Americans and yet the bottom 80% of tax payers pay only 14 percent of all taxes- simple math-
He says drilling is not he answer but yet when Presient Bush announces his lift ont he ban of offshore drilling, oil drops to less than half-
With the Birtish, Swedish, Canadian and now Danish helath care plans all failing and experiencing backlogs and how to pay issues, he wants to nationalize health care and force pharmaceuticals to lower their prices-
He thinks that if the employeees get to keep more of their employers money, that they can save more, faster- how does this work if the employer goes out of business

Education- please – look at the root casues of the issues you speak of-
